Dame Helen Mirren, the Oscar-winning actress, has condemned the leaking of nude celebrity photographs as “infantile,” as she admits she does not “quite get” why stars took the pictures in the first place.
Speaking on Magic FM, as part of an interview about her upcoming film The Hundred-Foot Journey, Dame Helen advocated stripping hackers of their anonymity, saying their actions were “cowardly and pathetic”.”It’s horrifying,” she said. “The whole concept of privacy has gone.”
In an interview to be broadcast on Sunday at 7pm, she spoke of the leaking of photographs alleged to be linked to 101 female celebrity targets, which included Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence and Downton Abbey actress Jessica Brown Findlay.
“Mind you, who on earth would put nude photos of themselves on their phones anyway. That I don’t quite get. It’s like why? I don’t get that at all.
“We’re still learning the parametres of what to do and what not to do with your phones and your internet and your email. I think slowly the penny is dropping that there are certain things you just do not do on your computer or your phone.”
